INDUSTRY INSIGHT
I have been lucky enough to be able to spend time with and look around the studio of award winning jewellery designer Sophie Harley. The fast paced work environment showed me the ins and outs of industry life in the creative field.
Chatting with Sophie herself, she told me her amazing story of how she broke into the industry and became a designer for the likes of Joss Stone, Kate Winslet, Jerry Hall, Judi Dench, Colin Firth, Kate Beckinsale and Naomi Campbell. She was also commissioned to design the iconic Love Knot necklace for the James Bond film Casino Royale, worn as a focal statement piece on Bond girl Eva Green.
I was also able to see the jewellery being made in action and the workings of her team behind her social medias and marketing. This was extremely insightful and valuable, giving me a first insight and sparking excitement for professional life.
I am so excited to have the amazing oppertunity to work with Hortons England when I finish university in the summer. I will be working in ecommerce and marketing, doing everything from managing their social medias to writing weekly newsletters, assisting with new design ideas and production, working on marketing strategies, PR and influencer outreach.
I will be working there full time and will get the oppertunity to meet and network with pivitol people in the fashion and creative industry. I cannot wait to begin my career and work on something I am so passionate and excited about!
