EXHIBITIONS

Expanding on my love for artwork and culture, exhibitions have always been something I have loved to attend. My Grandmother worked at the now Kings Gallery at Buckingham Palace and the National Gallery as a guide, and I have early memories of her taking my sister and I around, explaining the rich history and vast culture around us, igniting my love for art history. I try to visit my favourites like The National Portrait Gallery, The V&A, The Saatchi Gallery and The Wallace collection as much as possible, bringing my sketchbook and emulating the works from life.
Here is a collection of images taken of my favourite recent exhibitions I have attended.

DAVID HOCKNEY - A BIGGER PICTURE

This was one of my favourite exhibitions i’ve attended. The colours and interactive element was unlike something I have ever experienced. Hockney’s lifes work was being unveiled around you, as if you are a part of his art and paintings. The sheer vastness of the exhibition allowed you to experience everything in such detail, feeling almost like a dream.

FASHIONING MASCULINITIES - THE ART OF MENSWEAR
This was another exhibition I was extremely excited about. The V&A curated amazing pieces from all over the world that shows the true originality and expression in menswear. Some pieces were worn by Billy Porter, Harry Styles, David Bowie and Timothee Chalamet.

WOMEN IN REVOLT!
This exhibition at the Tate Britain focused on the marxist wife in 1960s Britain and the art movements combatting this. The exhibition was insightful and emotional, making me grateful to all of the amazing women that dedicated their lives and allowed me to have all of the oppertunities I have today.

AFRICA FASHION
Africa fashion at the V&A was such a beautiful exhibition, showcasing the amazing designers and materials used all over Africa. This exhibition was especially special to me, as I am 1/4 South African. It was so insightful and interesting to see what my ancestors would’ve worn and get recognition for the fascinating garments.

FASHION CITY - HOW JEWISH LONDONERS SHAPED GLOBAL STYLE
Fashion City was the latest exhibition I visited, showcasing the emergence of Jewish designers in London and how the influenced fashion, including the start of popular tailoring brand Moss Bros and the massive traction they had in Carnaby Street and the British rock community.
